The School of Performing Arts

The JCC School of Performing Arts offers pre-professional as well as recreational classes, workshops and performance opportunities for preschoolers to adults at many levels. There are also specialty classes in commercial technique, speech, lighting and sound, writing for stage, screen and TV and advanced acting. Recreational classes develop talent and imagination, while helping students build self-image and confidence in expressing themselves in a group. The professional track helps students connect with agents/managers and prepares them for Broadway, film and television. We also offer private coaching/lessons in acting, singing and dance. Classes and workshops for ages 3-10 are open only to JCC members.

Please Note: Classes and workshops for children can be scheduled to allow students to move from classes in theater to dance and singing on the same day. If your child needs to be escorted between classes, we can arrange it.

For a well-rounded experience in Performing Arts, we recommend:

  • Children taking performing workshops should also consider technique classes to develop solid skills for the next level.
  • Dance and vocal training are essential for the performer who needs to express him/herself happily and effectively in front of an audience or a group of peers.
  • Ballet is the basis for becoming a good dancer and will greatly enhance a performer's skills in other dance or theater-dance disciplines.
  • Talent is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. Come, enjoy and develop your talent. Focus and determination will bring success.

Special Performing Arts programs have been made possible by an annual gift from the Jamie Fitterman Charitable Foundation
