MOTHER & DAUGHTER BOOK CLUB

To encourage open and honest dialogues on difficult topics, the Youth Services Department at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is launching a Mother & Daughter bookclub for teens specifically in middle school. The bookclub will feature books that address pressing teen issues such as sex, drugs, eating disorders, depression, suicide, homosexuality, cutting and more.  The goal is to create an “open forum” to discuss these issues openly and objectively in the hope that it will spark more personal discussions at home and allow for stronger mother-daughter bonds. The program will also educate teens and their mothers about pertinent psychological and social factors surrounding these difficult topics, so they are more knowledgeable and prepared to address and understand them. Resources for further study and discussion will be provided. For more information or to register please call Judi Nahary 201-408-1470 or e-mail jnahary@jccotp.org
