Free Family Film: Finding Nemo

President’s Day is a day off of school! What are you going to do with your little people? February is Jewish Disabilities Awareness Month. In honor of all of those with different abilities’, we will be screening a classic: Finding Nemo. Nemo goes through life with a short fin and that is a real challenge. Spend President’s Day morning with us watching Nemo followed by a short discussion tailored to young children about people with different challenges. This program is for children and their caregivers.

Yom Hashoah Commemoration

This year’s annual commemoration will feature members of the Thurnauer School of Music performing selections from the children’s opera Brundibar, which was performed in the Theresienstadt concentration camp as a Nazi’s ploy to fool the world into thinking that concentration camps were not death camps. The keynote speaker, Ms. Ella Weissberger, played the cat in the original Theresienstadt cast. In addition, a teen who has composed an original piece of music to commemorate the Holocaust will be presented with the Abe Oster Holocaust Remembrance Award.
