Film Screening: Ahead of Time

Join us for a screening of this fabulous documentary on the remarkable life of Ruth Gruber, and then meet Gruber herself, now 102 years old, who will make a guest appearance with the film’s executive producer
Patti Kenner. Ruth Gruber, the world’s youngest PhD at the age of 20, went on to experience a trail-blazing career as an international foreign correspondent and photojournalist. She was the first journalist to enter the Soviet Arctic in 1935; a trusted member of the Roosevelt Administration during WWII, an insightful reporter of the Nuremberg trials in 1946 and more. This is a rare opportunity to meet a woman who emerged as the eyes and conscience of the world for more than seven decades.

Film Screening: The Jewish Cardinal

The Jewish Cardinal tells the amazing true story of Jean-Marie Lustiger, the son of Polish-Jewish immigrants, who maintained his cultural identity as a Jew even after converting to Catholicism at a young age, and later joining the priesthood. Quickly rising within the ranks of the Church, Lustiger was appointed Archbishop of Paris by Pope Jean Paul II - and found a new platform to celebrate his dual identity as a Catholic Jew, earning him both friends and enemies from either group. When Carmelite nuns settle down to build a convent within the cursed walls of Auschwitz, Lustiger finds himself a mediator between the two communities - and may be forced at last to choose his side.
