Waltuch Gallery
The Waltuch Art Gallery infuses Jewish art and/or works by Jewish artists into our shared cultural experiences. The exhibits are designed to ignite imagination and encourage people to connect the visual arts with philosophical and spiritual concepts through a creative Jewish lens.

The Waltuch Gallery exhibits rotate monthly, and feature the work of painters, photographers, digital artists and other creative designers.
Exhibits are free and open to the community, and most work is typically for sale. A portion of the proceeds support programming efforts at the JCC. The JCC also hosts an artist talkback dessert reception for each show.
Outdoor gallery exhibits are displayed throughout the Kaplen JCC Campus and indoor gallery exhibits are on the second floor of the main JCC building.

Reflections
Artwork by Barbara Ackerman
Barbara Ackerman is a former elementary and middle school art teacher whose passion for creativity has inspired generations of students. Her experience as an art educator spanned nearly four decades in public and private school systems. She taught art at Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County for 20 years and served as the Director of Arts & Technology at Camp Taconic. Her students worked in a variety of media including painting and drawing, fabric design, crafts, ceramics, photography, stained glass and more! Her goal was to help students unlock their creativity and help each student find their own voice. Using mixed media, with a focus on paint and collage,Barbara’s works blend realism with abstraction to demonstrate the emotional truth she observes in the world around her. Just as the world is constantly changing, so is Barbara’s approach to artistic expression. This exhibit reflects her constant reinvention in her search for self- discovery. Her hope is that each visitor finds their own connection to these works and experiences an emotional response based on their own perspective Barbara is Bergen County resident who along with her husband and two children have dedicated themselves to community, their local synagogue, and been longtime members of the JCC on the Palisades. Besides her artwork, Barbara enjoys tennis, pickleball, walking in the Palisades and staying active.
