Sports Night of Champions and the Kurtz Family New Jersey Jewish Sports Hall of Fame brings together Jewish athletic icons, local legends, and the members of our community to celebrate our deep impact in the world of sports: not only in New Jersey, but around the globe. Featuring Hall of Famer New York City sports icon Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier, known to many as ‘the voice of the Knicks.’ Class of 2024 announced!
Sports Night of Champions brings together Jewish athletic icons, local legends, and the members of our community to celebrate our deep impact in the world of sports: not only in New Jersey, but around the globe. Since the founding of the Kurtz Family New Jersey Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2019, the event has also featured the induction ceremony of three classes of prominent leaders and athletic standouts with a connection to the state.
Class of 2024 Inductees
- Noah Garden: Deputy Commissioner, Business & Media for Major League Baseball.
- Bruce Beck: Emmy-winning sportscaster and lead sports anchor for WNBC.
- Donna Orender: Former professional basketball player in the Women’s Basketball League (WBL) and President of the WNBA from 2005 to 2011, also served on the PGA Tour board from 1987 to 2005.
- Gertrude Ederle z”l: Olympic gold medalist, world record holder, and the first woman to swim the English Channel.

- The presentation of the Joseph Taub Scholar Athlete Awards to one female and one male high school senior from Bergen County, who will each be presented with a $10,000 college scholarship in recognition of their excellence in sports, academics and in their communities. These generous scholarships have been made possible by The Joseph and Arlene Taub Foundation in memory of Joseph Taub z”l.

ABOUT THE KURTZ FAMILY NEW JERSEY JEWISH SPORTS HALL OF FAME
The Kurtz Family New Jersey Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (https://jerseyjewishsports.org/) was founded in 2019 to honor Jewish individuals who have distinguished themselves in the field of athletics in the state of New Jersey.
Prior inductees include Tracy Wolfson (Sports Broadcaster and Sports Emmy Award recipient for Outstanding Sideline Reporter) David Stern (former NBA Commissioner enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and arguably the greatest and most influential commissioner in the history of American sports); Tal Brody (Israel’s “Mr. Basketball,” a First-Team All-American in 1965 and the No. 12 overall pick in the NBA Draft that year, who chose to play professionally in Israel for Maccabi Tel Aviv); Joseph Taub (former owner, New Jersey Nets); Leonard Rubin (established the Rubin Run to promote healthy living and support individuals with special needs), and Jeff Kurtz (multi-sport star and scholarship athlete).
