“Hebrew in Hebrew” – HSL for ages 3-8

Parents, please note that the programs on this page are intended for children who do not understand Hebrew and serve as their initial exposure to the language. If your children understand Hebrew but do not communicate back in Hebrew, please register them for the Efrohim or Haverim program, or contact us to schedule a consultation meeting.

“Hebrew in Hebrew” for Pre-Schoolers 

The “Hebrew in Hebrew” program is designed for children in pre-school ages (ages 3-4) who do not understand Hebrew. The program provides exposure to the Hebrew language vocabulary and Jewish/Israeli culture. The sessions cover topics close to the children’s world (such as colors, shapes, animals, and family) and complement what is done at school. Jewish holidays are also celebrated in Hebrew. Throughout the year, emphasis will be placed on Israeli literature and classics for toddlers, Hebrew songs, and movement and creative activities. The content is conveyed in diverse and creative ways that make children participate in the Hebrew experience and learning.

The “Hebrew in Hebrew” class consists of 32 sessions, each lasting 50 minutes, on Thursdays between 3:45-4:35 PM.

“My Hebrew Journey” – HSL for Kindergarten and 1^st Grade

This program is intended for kindergarten and first graders who do not speak Hebrew and marks the beginning of their journey in acquiring reading and writing skills in the Hebrew language. The program consists of 32 sessions lasting an hour and a quarter each, which will be dedicated to two main areas – experiential acquaintance with the Hebrew letters Aleph and Bet, including reading the letter, writing it, pronunciation, and learning about the Jewish-Israeli calendar and holidays, while being exposed to classics in Hebrew literature and children’s songs.

Throughout our journey among the letters, we will use a variety of approved textbooks by the Ministry of Education in Israel, combined with materials developed by the teaching staff in Emek. All content is conveyed in a diverse and creative way that makes children participants in the Hebrew experience and learning.

The “Hebrew in Hebrew” class consists of 32 sessions, each lasting 75 minutes, on Thursdays between 4:00-5:15 PM.

 Beginning of Reading and Writing” for HSL for 2^nd Grade

In this class, after becoming acquainted with the Aleph-Bet, we delve into acquiring reading and writing skills in Hebrew while integrating existing programs and materials developed by the pedagogical staff of Emek. Together with acquiring new skills, we deepen our Hebrew discourse and expand our vocabulary. Additionally, children learn about the Jewish calendar and holidays, all in an experiential way through play and exploration.

The program is designed for children in grades 1-2 who are not fluent Hebrew speakers but have completed the “Hebrew Journey” program to become familiar with the letters or are familiar with the Aleph-Bet from another source.
